SERGE III OLDENBOURG
A FLUXUS ARTIST FROM NICE
More infos
Serge Oldenbourg known as "Serge III" was born in 1927 in Meudon and died in 2000 in Nice.
He belongs to the Fluxus and École de Nice artistic movements and has produced numerous performances alongside visual artists from both movements. His stay in prison in 1967 in Czechoslovakia (then communist) had a profound impact on him. His work bears witness to this, notably through his plastic “prisons”.
The Ferrero Gallery, a specialist in the School of Nice for more than fifty years, has collected all the artistic and professional archives of Serge III Oldenburg (1927-2000).
This summer retrospective is an opportunity to show several iconic works by the artist as well as other little-known works that are just as strong in their message.
