YOUN CHO is a French artist born in Seoul in 1971 and has been based in Nice since 1999.
At 19, the young girl, reserved but determined, left her native country to study at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Strasbourg. She stayed there for six years, the time to learn how to handle all the materials. Then she moved to Nice, “for the sea”, she explains dreamily. “A beautiful setting helps you feel good in your head and in your body”.
The stylist then chose to become a sculptor. Youn works with glass, wood, clay, plaster... Anything that can get through his hands. His works often depict bathers with comical expressions and Asian features. If the playful aspect of his work touches us at first glance, it is the work of expressions, facial expressions and postures which gives the strength of these sculptures.
She has collaborated with GALERIE FERRERO since 2004. A major exhibition was dedicated to her in 2012 entitled Girl's Generation.
